The WALL 12th August 2007              St Mary's Church, Great Eversden.     Back to Picture Galleries Index

The concrete foundations of the wall were laid on 9th September 2005 (click for pictures). These pictures pick up a few moments between then and now. No, the wall isn't quite finished but now all that remains is the completion of the coping, some pointing, and a general tidy-up of the stonework and the site. Completion is close enough for a public celebration and a heartfelt Thankyou to David Ellis and the friends who have helped. Dan Walmsley recently has been chief among these.

Lost to the village during the span of these pictures are Patrick Macdonald, Compton Boyd (pictured here) and David's wife, Fiona. Each had a particular interest in the restoration of the wall.

Saturday 18th August 2007 A dull morning was lit up by a small crowd in St Mary's gathered to hear The Rev. Michael Matthews express the thanks of the Church and the villages to David Ellis and friends for the restoration of the church wall
